HYDE PARK — Washington Park will host a stargazing party on Oct. 24.
From 7-10 p.m. at 5531 S. Martin Luther King Dr., astronomers will light a campfire and then turn their telescopes skyward to look for planets and nebulae.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own telescopes, but there will be one provided by the Chicago Park District.
The skies are expected to be dark after the new moon on Oct. 23.
A partial solar eclipse is also expected to be visible around 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, according to NASA.
The event is free.
