PORTAGE PARK — Eighteen Chicago artists will display their work in a gallery show opening Friday at Six Corners.

Produced by the Chicago Creative Coalition, the artists will explore their identity as artists through work they have created for themselves rather than for clients.

An opening reception for the show, which is part of Chicago Artists Month, will take place from 6-10 p.m. Friday at 4007 N. Milwaukee Ave.

The gallery show, which is being sponsored by Arts Alive Chicago, Ald. John Arena (45th) and the Six Corners Association, will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Visitors to the gallery can create their own light painting portraits from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with each 15-minute session starting on the hour. The work will be displayed on the coalition's website starting Monday.

Artists whose work will be displayed include Laura Marie Sanchez, T.J. Hine, Mary Wagner and Robert Tolchin.
