French Illustrations Unearthed for World War I Anniversary

 The University of Chicago has collected 100 illustrations depticting World War I to mark the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the conflict.

HYDE PARK — The University of Chicago has unearthed a collection of rare French illustrations on World War I to mark the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the conflict.

Historians Neil Harris and Teri J. Edelstein have collected 100 images for “En Guerre: French Illustrators and World War I,” which runs Tuesday through Jan. 2.

The images, which depict patriotism, nationalism, propaganda and the soldier's experience, are on view from 9 a.m.-4:45 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Saturdays in the exhibition gallery of the Special Collections Research Center, 1100 E. 57th St.
