CHICAGO — Police are searching for a man who may be responsible for a string of burglaries in Beverly over the past month, all during daylight hours.

According to police, there have been several reports of residential burglaries in Beverly between Sept. 5 and Oct. 7, ranging in location from the 9000 block of South Bell Avenue to the 10300 block of South Bell Avenue.

Many of these incidents involve a man breaking the glass of a back door to unlock it and gaining entry, according to a police alert.

Police describe the suspect as an 18- to 20-year-old African-American male who is 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-2 tall.

He was last seen wearing a red baseball hat, blue checkered shirt, blue jeans and carrying a backpack, according to the alert.

Residents should keep their gates and fences locked, police said, and notify a neighbor if they are planning on being out of town.

Anyone with information should call detectives at 312-747-8273.
