CHICAGO — A man is dead and six others were wounded in shootings since Monday morning.

The man was killed late Monday in Homan Square.

The most recent shooting happened around 3:20 a.m. Tuesday in East Garfield Park, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Officers responded to a person shot in the 600 block of North Ridgeway Avenue and found a 25-year-old man lying on the sidewalk. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition after being shot in his chest, Estrada said.

The man was identified as Shandel Adams of the 5400 block of West Van Buren Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Two people were shot in separate incidents in Humboldt Park.

Around 10:55 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot while driving in the 4300 block of South State Street. Someone pulled alongside and opened fire, striking him in his elbow. He was taken to Provident Hospital in stable condition, Estrada said.

The man is a documented gang member, Estrada said.

About 10 hours earlier, two people were shot in a 15-minute span. Around 1:30 p.m., a 19-year-old was shot while standing in the 1000 block of West 88th Street in Gresham. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition after being shot in his shoulder, Estrada said.

Around 1:15 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in both legs while standing in the 4100 block of South Michigan Avenue in Bronzeville. The man was taken to St. Mary's Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Estrada said.

No one is in custody for either shooting and both shootings seem to be gang-related, Estrada said.
