O'HARE— Terminal 1 at O'Hare airport was partially evacuated after an unattended bag was found Wednesday morning.

Police were called at 9:30 a.m. after the bag was found in the upper level of the terminal, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The Chicago Police Bomb Squad was called in and a small section of Terminal 1 was closed during the investigation, Estrada said.

The Chicago Department of Aviation said in a statement that the airport closed portions of the terminal's ticketing area and baggage claims as well as upper- and lower-level roadways to the terminal, pending an investigation.

United Airlines, the main airline that uses the terminal, urged customers to check the status of their flight and allow extra time for security screening.
