CHICAGO — Five people were wounded in shootings overnight on the South and West Sides.

The most recent shooting happened around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday in the 4800 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue in Bronzeville, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

A 33-year-old man was standing on the block when he heard shots and felt pain in his thigh. He was taken to Provident Hospital before being transferred to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Estrada said.

No one is in custody for the shooting.

Around the same time, a 20-year-old woman was in the passenger seat of a white Cadillac driving northbound in the 7800 block of South Stony Island Avenue in Grand Crossing. As they drove a white Nissan pulled in front of their car and someone inside opened fire through the windshield, Estrada said, grazing the woman in her face.

The woman was taken to Northwestern Hospital in stable condition. The driver also struck a parked car after the incident, Estrada said.

Also overnight, a 44-year-old woman was shot in West Englewood around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. And two people were wounded in a Humboldt Park shooting Tuesday night.
