Halloween 5K Set to Benefit St. Eugene

NORWOOD PARK — Ghouls and goblins are set to hit the streets of Norwood Park during the third annual Trot 'N Treat 5K run to benefit St. Eugene School.

The 5K race, which will loop around Oriole Park through tree-lined streets, will start at 9 a.m. Oct. 18 at 7930 W. Foster Ave. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes.

The course is certified by the USA Track and Field Association and runners will be timed with chips.

A quarter-mile Monster Dash for runners 10 and younger will follow the 5K.

Race participants will receive a color, long-sleeve technical running shirt and a Gatorade squeeze bottle. Monster Dash participants will receive a technical running shirt and a goody bag.

Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers as well as medals for the top three male and female finishers in each age division.

'90s cover band According to Sarah will perform.

After the race, runners can celebrate with bounce houses, face painting and balloon animals. Pizza, hot dogs, popcorn, hot chocolate and coffee will be provided.

Registration varies from $15-$35 depending on the age of the runner and is available online and on race day.
