LAKEVIEW — A woman was sexually assaulted in Lakeview on Sept. 14, according to police.

The 27-year-old woman was walking in the 1600 block of West Fletcher Street when a man tackled her from behind around 2:25 a.m., police said Sunday in a community alert.

The man pushed the woman into the common area of her building, where he lifted her dress and assaulted her, police said. One of the woman's friends heard the commotion, came onto a porch landing and yelled. The man ran away.

Police are describing the suspect as a 30- to 35-year-old Hispanic man. He's between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-9, had a ponytail and was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

Police are asking anyone with information to call detectives at 312-744-8200.
