LINCOLN PARK— A woman was robbed at gunpoint early Thursday morning in Lincoln Park, police said.

The woman was walking on the 600 block of West Wrightwood Avenue around 6:15 a.m. when a masked man with a handgun approached her from behind and demanded her purse, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

The woman gave the suspect her purse, and the man ran off, Sweeney said.

The suspect later was arrested while riding a bus in the 2600 block of North Ashland Avenue, and the purse was returned to the victim, Sweeney said.

Charges are pending.
