LAKEVIEW — Should Scotland be independent?

That's a question Scottish citizens will answer Thursday as they vote whether to remain bound to England in a union that's lasted since 1707.

To commemorate the historic election, Lakeview bar The Duke of Perth will host a viewing party starting at 4 p.m. The bar will live-stream election results, serve Scottish food and beer, and offer live bagpipe music.

Early polls indicate that Scottish voters are pretty split on the question, which would either uphold a centuries-old bond to England or create an independent nation by March 2016. As many as 80 percent of registered voters are expected to vote.

The Duke of Perth event at 2913 N. Clark St. is hosted by Chicago Scots, who bill themselves as Illinois' oldest charity.
