COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A man visiting his brother at the Cook County Jail Sunday found himself behind bars after fighting with correctional officers after being ordered to pull up his pants, prosecutors said.

Arraton Denton, of the 6600 block of South Michigan Avenue, was charged with aggravated battery after prosecutors say he swung at one correctional officer and pushed another while yelling profanities while at the Cook County Jail.

It started Sunday at Division IX, 2834 W. 31st St., a super maximum security facility that is part of the sprawling West Side jail campus, prosecutors said.

Denton, 24, was checking in with security when a jail guard ordered him to pull up his pants, prosecutors said. Denton complied, but his pants fell down again, exposing his underwear.

He was again ordered to pull up his pants by a correctional officer, who explained that sagging pants are a violation of visiting rules, prosecutors said.

Denton stormed off, but then realized he had left his identification behind and turned back, prosecutors said. Denton ran into the correctional officer, who was reportedly following him to return the ID, and took a swing at him, prosecutors said.

Another correctional officer stepped in, and Denton shoved him, prosecutors said.

Denton was then arrested and charged with aggravated battery.

A judge ordered Denton held on $7,500 bail Tuesday during a brief court hearing.
