CHICAGO — A five-bedroom mansion built in 1900 is on the market in Norwood Park for $1.27 million.

Spanning 4,800 square feet, 7122 W. Peterson Ave. has four bathrooms and a newer kitchen with cherry cabinets, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, according to Santos Velazquez with Homeowners Realty.

Overall, the home is unique because of the "very fine high-end finishes which can be seen most prominently in the stone tiling in the bathrooms, detailing in the kitchen and columned entry ways in the formal front rooms," according to the current homeowner.

Among the four bedrooms is the master suite, which offers 800 square feet of space, vaulted ceilings and a seating area with a fireplace, according to Velazquez.

In the master bathroom there are several amenities, the homeowner said, including his-and-hers walk-in closets, tumbled marble flooring, a Jacuzzi tub, multi-jet shower, heated towel racks and a separate water closet.

The large family room comes with a gas fireplace and built-ins as well as a separate seating area wired for surround sound, the current homeowner said.

The home faces Norwood Circle Park and is half a block away from Norwood Park Elementary School.

Thanks to the extra-wide lot, there is a sense of distance from neighbors, which "creates a sense of truly being in the suburbs," the homeowner said.

Travel through the French doors off the family room, and there is a 20-foot-by-20-foot deck and a 20-foot-by-20-foot slate patio a few steps down.

The home was also chosen by a location scout as a site to film one of the early episodes of the pilot TV series "Mind Games," the homeowner added.
