Learn How to Can Veggies, Save Butterflies at Fall Harvest Fair

LAKEVIEW — The Green Metropolis Fair will return this Saturday with "Fall Harvest" festivities in Lakeview.

The free fair focuses on sustainability with yoga classes, kids' activities, and organic and fair-trade vendors. There'll be booths with food and drinks, nutritionists, chiropractors and "green" businesses such as landscapers and developers.

Guests can learn about organic gardening through workshops on everything from canning and composting to preserving and drying herbs and flowers.

Kids activities include a mini petting zoo with rabbits and goats, face painting, arts and crafts, and a puppet show.

Fall Harvest Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lake View High School, 4015 N. Ashland Ave.

Highlights include:

9-11 a.m. Live broadcast with The Mike Nowak Show

11:15 a.m. Fair organizers will release milkweed seeds to help care for Chicago's monarch butterfly population. Guests are encouraged to join.

12:15 p.m. Cooking demonstration with Chef Ina Pinkney
