CHICAGO — A downstate man has died after he was shot over the weekend in Roseland, authorities said.

Martell Robinson, 20, of Steger, Illinois, was pronounced dead at 7:33 a.m. Monday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

About 8 a.m. Saturday, police officers responded to a call of a man lying in an alleyway in the 9700 block of South Forest Avenue and found the 20-year-old unresponsive, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.

Robinson had been shot in the head and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead two days later, according to the morgue.

As of Wednesday evening, no one is in custody in connection with the shooting.
