LAKEVIEW — The 11th annual "Mutt Strut" will take over Lakeview this Saturday.

From 11 a.m.-3 p.m., humans and their pups can enjoy a block party and 1½-mile neighborhood walk along Newport Avenue between Southport and Lakewood.

The event benefits Chicago Canine Rescue, a Northwest Side group that helps dogs that would otherwise be euthanized. Tickets range from $35-$75, and kids and dogs are free.

The "Mutt Strut" walk kicks off at noon. Registration opens at 11 a.m.

A party will feature music, a doggy obstacle course, contests, raffles, a canine cake-eating contest, dog-wash station, "bouncy house" for kids and face painting. Plus, Chicago Canine Rescue will bring along dogs available for adoption.

NBC5 Chicago reporter Kye Martin will emcee the event alongside her rescue dog, Bo.

Chicago Canine Rescue hopes to raise $75,000. So far, it's brought in about $23,000.
