BRIDGEPORT — Benton House is putting out a call for Bridgeport's best basketball players.

The social resource agency with deep neighborhood roots is hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Sept. 20.

The first-of-its-kind event, which takes place at nearby Bosley Park, 3044 S. Bonfield Ave., is a fundraiser to help pay for annual maintenance for the old gymnasium floor, which was overhauled last year.

"It's definitely better than it was. But because of people playing games and the normal wear and tear ... we want to preserve it in really good condition," said Ben Noetzel, a Benton House program coordinator.

The deadline to register a team is Sept. 12. All participants must be at least 16 years old.

Registration for the all-day event costs $30 per team and is available by visiting the official Benton House website.
