Man, 64, Killed, Three Others Wounded in Lawndale Shootings

CHICAGO — A robbery attempt ended with a man's death, and three other people were shot in separate incidents Lawndale overnight, police said.

The most recent incident occurred around 3 a.m. in the 1500 block of Sorth Lawndale Avenue, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman. 

A 64-year-old man was exiting a store when two people attempted to rob him, police said. They shot the man, who was taken ot Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died, police said.

He was identified as Nabil Batroukh.

No one is in custody, and Area Central detectives are investigating.

About 50 minutes earlier, three men were shot in the 1900 block of South Christiana Avenue. 

The men, ages 32, 35 and 37, were standing on the street when someone walked up and opened fire, striking the 32-year-old in his abdomen and his right thigh, the 37-year-old in his buttocks and right leg and the 35-year-old in his ankle, upper left thigh, back and right shoulder, Sedevic said.

All of the victims transported themselves to Mount Sinai Hospital. The 32-year-old and the 37-year-old are both in critical condition, while the 35-year-old is listed in stable condition, Sedevic said.

Police said no one is in custody for either shooting, and detectives are investigating the incidents.
