CHICAGO — Drivers beware: closures are scheduled on the Kennedy Expressway this weekend as part of the ongoing Ohio Street bridge project, the Illinois Department of Transportation said.

The expressway's reversible lanes will be closed to make way for work crews from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, through 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7.

The westbound Ontario Street feeder ramp to the westbound expressway will also close for work beginning at 10 p.m. Friday and continuing through 9 a.m. Sunday. A posted detour will take drivers on the eastbound expressway to the Taylor Street exit ramp where they can then reenter the expressway heading west, according to a IDOT statement.

State officials say drivers should expect delays and allow extra time for travel through the area.
