ANDERSONVILLE — Chicago’s sole "local-only" craft brew festival, the Andersonville City Made Fest, will return later this month.
City Made, a festival featuring local craft beer, music, merchants and artisans, runs Sept. 20-21 along North Clark Street from Carmen to Argyle. This is the two-block fest's second year.
The 13 breweries to be featured at City Made include Finches and Lagunitas, both event sponsors, as well as Revolution, Half Acre, Metropolitan, Lake Effect and Empirical, among others. Food vendors include Robinson’s Ribs, Hamburger Mary’s and Puffs of Doom.
Andersonville Chamber of Commerce Associate Director Jason Cox touted the festival, organized by the chamber and Andersonville Development Corp., as a unique showcase of all things local.
“I don’t think any other festival is really doing such an intense focus on ‘all Chicago,'” Cox said. “We get a lot of inquiries from [vendors] but they don’t meet our criteria because they are not based in the city.”
Most of the musicians featured, he said, are playing original music and aren’t the same cover bands you might hear at other neighborhood festivals across the city.
The lineup includes guitar-wielding songstress Deanna Devore, blues ensemble Lil’ Ed & the Blues Imperials, Stann Champion’s Roots Rock Society, experimental Afro-Mestizo folk band Son Monarcas, electro hip-hop artist Jason Maek and singer-songwriter Zaena.
Last year’s festival attracted between 7,500 and 10,000 people, said Cox, who expects similar attendance this year. City Made organizers request a $5 donation.
