CHICAGO — At least 11 people were wounded by gunfire across the city since Friday evening, police said.
In the most recent shooting, a 43-year-old man was shot multiple times in his body in the 8000 block of South Merrill Avenue about 6:05 a.m., according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.
He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he is in serious condition, she said.
No other information was immediately available.
In other shootings:
• Around 5:25 a.m., a 20-year-old man was in the 7800 block of South Constance Avenue in South Shore when someone walked up and opened fire, striking him in his upper back, said Sedevic.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition.
Police said he is a documented gang member.
• About an hour and a half earlier, two women were shot outside of a party in West Pullman.
Around 4 a.m., the women, ages 56 and 52, were standing outside of a party with a group in the 11700 block of South LaSalle Street when someone opened fire, Sedevic said.
Both women were struck in their legs, and were taken to Christ where they are in stable condition, Sedevic said.
No one is in custody for this shooting.
• Around 2:35 a.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in West Town.
• Earlier, two women were shot in Englewood.
The shooting occurred in the 6700 block of South Ada Street around 1:55 a.m., police said.
The women, ages 20 and 21, were standing outside of a block party with a group when someone fired shots, striking the 20-year-old in her foot and the 21-year-old in her leg, Sedevic said.
The 20-year-old was taken to Holy Cross Hospital where she is in stable condition, while the 21-year-old was taken to Mercy Hospital where she is also in stable condition, police said.
No one is in custody for this shooting.
• Fifteen minutes earlier, a man was shot during a robbery attempt in South Austin.
The man, 20, was at a party in the 1000 block of North Monitor Street when two men, armed with handguns, walked up and announced a robbery, Sedevic said.
The 20-year-old man resisted, and the men shot him, striking him in his chest, Sedevic said.
He was taken to West Suburban Hospital where he is in serious condition.
No one is in custody.
• Around 12:50 a.m., a 34-year-old man was shot outside of a party in Englewood.
He was standing outside of a house at a party in the 6800 block of South Loomis Street when men walked up and opened fire, striking him in his arm, Sedevic said.
No one is in custody.
• A 20-year-old man is in good condition after being shot in Chicago Lawn around 11:40 p.m.
The shooting occurred during a fight in the 5900 block of South Mozart Street, Sedevic said.
Someone pulled out a handgun and shot the 20-year-old, striking him in his leg, Sedevic said.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
No one is in custody.
• A half an hour earlier, a man was shot in West Elsdon, authorities said.
The 29-year-old man was at a block party in the 3600 block of West 56th Place when he heard shots and felt pain, according to Sedevic.
No other information was immediately available.
He was taken to Christ where he is in good condition, Sedevic said.
