ROGERS PARK — Three food trucks will circle the wagons Friday in Pottawattomie Park's parking lot for the Chicago Park District's Picnic in the Park event before a showing of "Smurfs 2."

Jaime's Tacos, 5411 Empanadas and Chicago Cupcake will serve food from 6 p.m. until dusk, when the movie begins on a temporary screen.

From 6:30-7:30, Ben's Bubble Show will entertain attendees with giant bubbles. There will also be face painting, a bouncy castle, coloring contest, sidewalk chalk, hula-hoops and more.

The Pottawattomie Park Advisory Council received a $500 grant from Friends of the Parks to develop the event, said Cammie McLeod, of the park's council.

McLeod said she was expecting as many as 300 people to attend the event at 7340 N. Rogers Ave.

If it rains, the event will be moved indoors.
