CHICAGO — Two people are dead — including a 9-year-old boy — and seven others were injured in shootings across the city overnight.

The most recent shooting left a 21-year-old dead in Riverdale early Thursday.

Wednesday afternoon, a 9-year-old boy was fatally shot in Greater Grand Crossing.

In the most recent nonfatal shooting, a 23-year-old was shot during a drive-by in West Pullman Wednesday night. The man was standing outside in the 11600 block of South Loomis Avenue, when shots were fired from a passing car. He was taken to Metro South Hospital in good condition, said Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago Police spokesman.

In other nonfatal shootings:

Two people were shot in Englewood just after 10 p.m. Wednesday.

• Around 9:30 p.m., a man was shot twice in the arm in Hermosa.

• Around 9:15 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot multiple times after getting into an argument with a man he knew in the 7800 block of South Bennett Avenue in South Shore. The man left and returned a short time later opening fire. The man was shot in the groin and buttocks and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, said Greer.

• Around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, two teens were standing in the 3900 block of South Lake Park Avenue in Oakland when a green minivan pulled up and someone emerged from the van firing. An 18-year-old man was taken to Stroger and a 16-year-old boy was taken to Comer Children's Hospital. Both were in critical condition, said Greer.
