At Least 8 Wounded, 1 Dead in Citywide Shootings Since Thursday Night

CHICAGO — One man was killed and at least eight other people were wounded in shootings since Thursday night, police said.

A 23-year-old man was fatally shot in South Shore around 9:20 p.m. Thursday.

About an hour later, a 52-year-old man was wounded after a shooting in Rogers Park.

In other shootings:

Two teen girls were shot in Avalon Park around 12:23 a.m Friday., according to Officer Ronald Gaines, a police spokesman.

The teens, ages 17 and 18, were standing on a porch in the 8300 block of South Anthony Avenue when they heard shots and felt pain, Gaines said. 

The 17-year-old suffered from a graze wound in her arm and leg, while the 18-year-old suffered from a graze wound in her side and torso. Both were in good condition after being transported to South Shore Hospital. 

Before midnight Thursday, two men were shot in Washington Heights.

The men, ages 28 and 32, were in a car at a stop sign in the 9300 block of South Wallace Avenue when a light-colored car pulled up and someone inside the car opened fire, striking the 28-year-old in his arm and the 32-year-old in his arm and wrist, said Gaines.

The 28-year-old was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in good condition, while the 32-year-old was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition.

Around 11:10 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in Fuller Park, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.

The boy, who has documented gang affiliations, was outside in the 4200 block of South Wells Street when someone came out of an alley and opened fire, striking him in his leg, Sedevic said.

He is in stable condition after being taken to Stroger Hospital.

Around 10:05 p.m., a boy was shot in West Englewood. 

The boy, 14, was walking in the 7300 block of South Wolcott Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, Gaines said. 

He was shot in his lower back and was taken to Christ in stable condition, police said.

Around 7:15 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in the 6700 block of South Green Street, police said.

He was standing on the porch when two men rode up on bicycles, Gaines said. Gang signs were exchanged, and one of the cyclists pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking the man in his back. 

He was taken to Christ in stable condition, Gaines said.

No one is in custody for this shooting.
