CHICAGO — Marisa Buchheit might just be a month away from representing Illinois in the Miss America competition, but she still plans to stop by her old music school in the West Loop.

Buchheit is an aspiring opera singer who took classes in operatic vocal training at the Merit School of Music, 38 S. Peoria St., while growing up.

She plans to stop by the school to inspire the younger students there, meeting with 25 children from Chicago who are in the school's Conservatory Choir Camp.

Buchheit will speak at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the school. The event is not open to the public.

Buchheit will represent Illinois in the Miss America pageant Sept. 14.
