CHICAGO — A 30-year-old man was fatally shot in West Pullman early Tuesday.

Around 2 a.m. Tuesday, the man was standing on the sidewalk in the 11600 block of South Stewart Avenue when he was shot in his head.

When police arrived on the scene the man was unresponsive. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago police spokesman.

The man, who was later identified as Julio Perkins, was standing outside his home when he was shot, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Neighbors heard about five shots from the alley before police found the man, Gaines said.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
