Teen Killed, 23 Wounded in Weekend Shootings Across the City

CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy was killed and 23 other people were wounded in shootings over the weekend across the city, police said.

In the most recent shooting, a 28-year-old man was shot inside a restaurant in Humboldt Park early Monday.

Around 9 p.m. Sunday, a 16-year-old was shot and killed in a South side alley.

Around 7 p.m. Sunday, a 21-year-old man was shot in the 8400 block of South Kilbourn Avenue in Ashburn. A man walked up to him and opened fire before fleeing in a black van. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in good condition after he was shot in his foot, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

Around 3:36 p.m. Sunday, a 35-year-old man was grazed in his head while standing in the 12300 block of South Michigan Avenue in West Pullman. He was taken to Christ in stable condition, Pacheco said.

Sunday afternoon, two people were shot minutes apart in Park Manor and two others were wounded in separate shootings on the North and South sides.

Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning, nine people were wounded by gunfire.

Friday night into Saturday morning, seven people were shot including two people shot at the Bud Billiken Parade.
