BRONZEVILLE — The Bud Biliken Parade and Picnic kicks off Saturday at 10 a.m., an annual event that will include the tumbling groups DraMatiq ImpaQT and the Chicago Ultimate Tumblers.

Celebrating its 85th anniversary, the parade travels from 39th Street and ends at 51st Street and Martin Luther King Drive inside Washington Park. The official back-to-school parade is organized by the nonprofit Chicago Defender Charities.

The Chicago Ultimate Tumblers group was founded by Orpheus Floyd, who trained with the famous Jesse White Tumblers, who will also perform in the parade.

DraMatiq ImpaQT, a hip-hop dance crew from South Shore, is made up of girls between 12 and 20. It was founded in 2012 by Chicagoan Kysha Simpson, who said the group's last name emphasizes that they leave a lasting impression when they dance.

The groups will join Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court Dorothy Brown.

“I applaud Chicago Defender Charities for creating this time honored tradition that inspires the wider community to focus on young people and the importance of education,” said Brown. “I’m especially excited to showcase the unique talents of the young members of DraMatiq ImpaQT and Chicago Ultimate Tumblers in the Bud Biliken Parade.”
