ANDERSONVILLE — Underground Chicago artists are scheduled to perform at the Neo-Futurarium in Andersonville during August and September as part of "Infiltration," a collaboration between the Neo-Futurists ensemble and Salonathon, a weekly art showcase.

Salonathon brings everything from storytelling to dance and puppetry to Beauty Bar in Noble Square every Monday. Now, artists from the show will grace the stage at the Neo-Futurarium, 5153 N. Ashland, home to the Neos and their signature flash-theater feature "Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind."

A news release from the Neo-Futurists said the collaboration aims to "interrogate what it means to be a fringe artist in Chicago."

"Infiltration aims to connect artists across Chicago whose work challenges the confines of space and convention," said Malic White, Neo-Futurist troupe member and one of the show's curators. "I look forward to watching The Neo-Futurists welcome and work with new performers who will broaden the artistic scope of our aesthetic."

The show is also curated by multimedia producer and queer historian Joseph R. Varisco and Jane Beachy, founder and artistic director of Salonathon.

"Infiltration" kicks off Friday with visual and performance artist Kiam Marcelo Junio.

The Filipino immigrant and Navy veteran's work centers on "queer identities, the Filipino Diaspora, military and civilian power dynamics, and the politics of cultural healing," according to the release.

Also performing is Jerry Blossom, Junio's alter ego, "a genderqueer Filipino femme-presenting persona who hails from an alternate post-queer, post-colonialist utopia/universe in which the Philippines is a world power," according to the artist's website.

Dancer and choreographer Darling Shear headlines the Aug. 15 "Infiltration" show and interdisciplinary artist Sid Branca follows her on Aug. 22.
