CHICAGO — A shooting in a Goose Island nightclub's parking lot sent four people to the hospital early Wednesday.

Officers were called to the scene in the 1100 block of North North Branch Street and found two men shot in the parking lot of the Hearts nightclub around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday.

A man in his 30s was shot in his chest and back and another man in his 30s was shot in his leg and groin. Both men were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago police spokesman.

A third victim, also a man in his 30s, was dropped off at Rush University Medical Center with a gunshot wound in his leg and was transferred to Stroger Hospital. Later, a fourth victim walked into Stroger after being shot in the right arm, Alfaro said.

No one is in custody for the shooting.

The club is the same bar where a 24-year-old man was shot in April during an argument.

At an unrelated news conference at Kennedy King College in Englewood Wednesday morning, Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said the nightclub "has a history."

"One of the victims was a concealed-carry permit holder," McCarthy said. "His gun is gone. So what happened? We're trying to determine."

McCarthy added that "more guns is not the solution to gun violence."

"That's akin to saying everyone should drive drunk to stop drunken driving. It doesn't work that way," he said.

Rapper Jeezy (formerly Young Jeezy) was scheduled to appear at Hearts Tuesday night. Sunday, rapper Nas was scheduled to appear at Bodi in Near North when shots were fired outside, killing a man and wounding another.
