Learn to Make Dyes with Everyday Food at this Bridgeport Art Class

BRIDGEPORT — Art instructor Maggie Leininger will teach participants in the "Kitchen Dyeing" class the basics of using common kitchen items like spices, teas and wine to make dyes for art projects.

The event takes place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 12 at the Urban Threads Studio, located in the Bridgeport Art Center, 1200 W. 35th St. Tickets are $35 and are available online.

Leininger said the "class will introduce those interested in dyeing but afraid of the dangerous chemicals that are in commercial dyes." The class is appropriate for artists 18 and up. All materials will be provided.
