RIVER NORTH — Boozy happy hours can be great for morale, but don't usually boost workers' productivity.
IO Urban Roofscape in River North will try to strike a compromise for workers and their employers with its new "Sorry, Boss" promotion launching next week.
Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from Aug. 11 through the end of September, groups of six or more that make a reservation under their company name — and order a cocktail for each staff member — and mention the promotion will get a coupon that they can bring back to their bosses.
The coupon is good for a free sandwich or salad and soft drink, valid between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. for two days after the team drinks and dines. The deal applies to groups that visit the bar and restaurant at 127 W. Huron St. between 5 and 7 p.m.
The promotion is meant to alleviate "the usual repercussions of a hangover at work," IO Urban Roofscape's team said in a release.
The rooftop bar and restaurant sits atop the Godfrey Hotel, a modernist boutique hotel that opened last year.
