HYDE PARK — Police and neighbors in Bronzeville are gearing up for National Night Out on Tuesday.

Redmoon will bring its bicycle-powered grill, and police officers from the Wentworth District will cook hot dogs and hamburgers from 5-8 p.m. at Ellis Park, 707 E. 37th St.

For the national program to raise awareness of community policing efforts, residents of Oakwood Shores will hold a march against violence starting at 5 p.m. at Mandrake Park at 39th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue

At the end of the march, youths will plant flags at Ellis Park in remembrance of the victims of violence over the last year.

Also at Ellis Park, a Motown tribute band will perform, and police will hand out school supplies.
