South Shore Shooting Leaves Man Dead

 A 23-year-old man was found shot to death Friday morning in the entryway of a South Shore apartment building, police said.

CHICAGO — A 23-year-old man was found shot to death Friday morning in the entryway of a South Shore apartment building, police said.

Police responded to shots fired in the 6700 block of South Clyde Avenue about 3:40 a.m. and discovered the man unresponsive, according to Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

The victim was identified as Devin Pope, of the 7200 block of South Paxton Avenue. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 3:55 a.m.

The man was one of at least three people shot in the city overnight. A 16-year-old boy was wounded in Austin and a 40-year-old man was shot in Rogers Park.
