CHICAGO — Police in the city's Southwest Side Deering District are notifying residents of a series of burglaries and robberies that have taken place throughout the summer.

The burglaries include three incidents in Brighton Park in which bandits climbed through the windows of homes and stole items. One took place July 8 in the 3800 block of South Sacramento Boulevard, the other two in the 3300 block of West 38th Place on July 19 and July 23, police said.

All those incidents happened during the daytime, police said.

Authorities are also investigating a pair of armed robberies in the 5200 block of South Wells Street in Fuller Park. Police said a man armed with a handgun approached victims on the street and demanded cash. The first took place about 1 p.m. June 28 and another similar incident was reported about 9:40 a.m. July 21.

The attacker in those cases is described as a black man, about 35 to 40 years old, about 6 feet tall and 240 to 300 pounds.

Also under investigation are a series of street robberies in throughout July in Back of the Yards in which police said a man is threatening or attacking victims on the street and stealing their property or money.

Two of the robberies took place in the early morning of July 21 — the first about 3 a.m. July 21 in the 1700 block of West 51st Street and the second an hour later in the nearby 4900 block of South Winchester Avenue, police said.

A similar robbery was reported July 22 in the 5100 block of South Winchester Avenue.
