CHICAGO — Police arrested a Mississippi man and charged him with the September 2013 murder of a Humboldt Park man.
Randon Walker, 23, of Lexington, Mississippi, was arrested July 20 in his home state after being identified as the man who fatally shot 25-year-old Rubin Austin early on the morning of Sept. 20.
Austin was shot in the chest and left side, and crawled to a friend's doorstep in the 3600 block of West Augusta Boulevard. Austin, a father of a 6-year-old girl who lived in the 1100 block of North Ridgeway Avenue, was later pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital. Police said he was a documented gang member.
Walker is due in court Friday, police said.
