CHICAGO — Originally listed for $18.75 million in June 2013, a mansion previously owned by philanthropist Ann Lurie is now on the market for $13.75 million.

The Gold Coast mansion at 1547 N. Dearborn St. is still the largest privately owned single-family lot in the area with 18,590-square-feet of space.

It was designed in 1891 by renowned architect August Fielder in a Romanesque style, which dates to 10th-11th century Europe. But the mansion has been "impeccably maintained and restored," according to @properties' Emily Sachs Wong

The kitchen is a perfect example; it's a commercial-grade catering kitchen with appliances from Traulsen, Miele and Wolf yet still has a large stained glass skylight.

Original stained glass can be found throughout the home as well as ornate woodwork and mosaic tile fireplaces. Modern amenities like a full-sized elevator, custom lighting and luxurious bathrooms give the home an updated feel.

In total, 1547 N. Dearborn St. has 12 bedrooms and an abundance of common spaces including a foyer, library, "grand" dining room, "sunny" living room and solarium, according to Sachs Wong.

It also has a separate guest house that has its own full kitchen, a "sprawling" garden and a five-car garage.

The next owner has the opportunity to use an additional 60 feet worth of land or build more parking spaces.

Ann Lurie is the president of the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Foundation, and is known for her contributions to the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital, among many other educational, medical and artistic causes.
