CHICAGO — The Hyde Park Art Center may be losing "The Beast" sculpture, but it's gaining a new exhibit curated by nine students Saturday.

The center, 5020 S. Cornell Ave., will celebrate the changes with a reading of the "Myth of Theseus, Ariadne and the Minotaur," a performance from the Beast Allstars and a screening of two videos from 12:30-5 p.m.

"The Beast" is a large sculpture that has served as a community space in the center.

It will be replaced with "Mind the Gap," a mixed-media group exhibition that "explores the conceptual space of the mind, between experience and recollection, between object and artifact," according to the center's website.

It will be welcomed at a reception from 2-5 p.m. with its nine student curators.
