BRIDGEPORT — Tickets are on sale for the first-ever Homebrewer's Ball.

Hosted by the Mash Tun Society, an offshoot beer and food culture club of the Mash Tun Journal publication, the competition offers home brewers a chance to have their recipes tasted and judged by the drinking public.

The event takes place 2:30-6 p.m. Aug. 9 at Co-Prosperity Sphere, 3219 S. Morgan St.

Tickets are $30 and include samples, a T-shirt (a limited supply made live during the event) and a vote for the best brew. They're available here.

The winner will have his or her recipe brewed and distributed by Marz Community Brewing, the nascent, small-batch nanobrewery in Bridgeport.

The judges panel, comprised of Mash Tun Society members, will choose the winners through a blind tasting. The judging will be led by Mash Tun Journal editor David Kahle, one of the world's only Master Cicerones, a select group of world-class beer experts.
