CHICAGO — Authorities have charged a second man in the March 2013 slaying of an unlicensed cab driver on the Far South Side.

Gregory James, 29, of the 6400 block of South Richmond Street in Ashburn, was charged with first-degree murder and one count of felony murder in the death of 48-year-old Edwin Obazuaye, police said Friday. He is due in court Saturday. Eric Taylor, 28, was similarly charged last March.

Obazuaye was shot to death during a robbery attempt near 91st Street and Lafayette Avenue after he picked up two passengers, police said.

In Taylor's March 22, 2013, court appearance, prosecutors laid out their case:

Taylor and another man ordered a taxi to the 8500 block of South Parnell Street about 5:40 p.m., March 14.
