CHICAGO — Happy Friday, Chicago! Here are some things you should do after work.
1. Go Shopping in Andersonville: If you haven't checked out the Andersonville sidewalk sale before, now is the time. The shops set up tables and racks all down Clark Street. Need a break? Grab a drink or a bite to eat on one of the neighborhood's plentiful patios. Olive in Motion, a free pop-up market, will kick off the sale tonight with a party. More on that here. Free. Kickoff party starts at 4 p.m. at Olive Avenue between Clark Street and Ashland. Sale lasts through Sunday.
2. Have a Fancy Drink on a Fancy Rooftop: Is today payday for you? Splurge a little with a cocktail on The J. Parker's glorious rooftop. They're a little pricey ($13), but you'll also be paying for the fabulous city views. We're eying the "Safeword" cocktail, which includes tequila, cucumber agua fresca, triple sec and lime. Summer in a glass. There's also a food menu by chef Paul Virant if you're feeling extra splurge-y. Open 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. at 1816 N. Clark St. on the 13th floor.
3. Hang with Katniss Everdeen in the Park: Hang out with Jennifer Lawrence on the West Side. OK, not really. But "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is a solid film with a stellar cast. Free. Starts at 8:30 p.m. in Galewood Park, 5729 W. Bloomingdale Ave.
4. Eat Food With a Bunch of Jeffs: Jeff Fest, which starts today and runs through Sunday, will offer music, aerial dance, drum circles, food trucks, craft beer, a photo show, a family picnic area and urban crafters. Also, if your name is Jeff, you get in free tonight. More details on food, music and beer here. Admission for non-Jeffs is $7 per person, and it runs through Sunday. Those younger than 12 are free. Starts tonight at 6 at Jefferson Memorial Park, 4822 N. Long Ave.
5. Critical Mass: Join a bunch of cyclicts at Daley Plaza this afternoon and go for a ride. Today's ride is expected to end with a big underwear dance party in Humboldt Park. It's a great way to meet new people and take over the streets during Friday's typically nasty rush hour. Free. Ride leaves from Daley Plaza around 5 p.m. 50 W. Washington St.
