CHICAGO — One person was shot in Old Town Thursday, and four others were wounded in shootings on the South Side.

A man, 28, was exiting a car in the 1400 block of North Sedgwick Avenue at 1:24 p.m. when the gunman approached the car on foot and opened fire, striking him in his right leg, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he is in stable condition.

Police said another shooting occurred in the 400 block of West Blackhawk Street, but that incident was the same as the shooting on Sedgwick.

In other shootings:

• About 7:30 p.m., in the 2500 block of West 38th Street in Brighton Park, an adult male was shot in the back, said Sgt. Bob Kane, a police spokesman. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized. No more information was available.

• A 24-year-old man was shot in the stomach and head about 3:40 p.m. in the 8000 block of South Manistee Avenue in South Chicago, Kane said. He was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

• A 27-year-old man is in stable condition after being shot around 12 p.m. in Altgeld Gardens, Zala said.

The man was taking out the garbage in the 13000 block of South Evans Avenue when someone shot him in his hip. He was transported to Roseland Community Hospital, Zala said.

• Around 11:20 a.m., a 17-year-old was "uncooperative with police" after being shot in both of his thighs in the 6100 block of South Langley Avenue in Woodlawn, Zala said.

Police said the teen was initially taken to University of Chicago Hospital, but was transferred to Mt. Sinai Hospital.

The shooting appears to be gang-related, Zala said.
