BRIDGEPORT — About $100 was stolen from a local nail salon when a group of women pretending to be customers instead swiped cash from a cash register, employees said.

An employee of the Salon Max, 3553 S. Wallace St., said four women came into the store about 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Two of the women ordered pedicures and were brought to the salon's back room, said the employee, who declined to give her name. The other two women then raided an unmanned cash register, she said.

A customer notified workers of the theft and urged the employees to call police.

A police spokesman said officers were called to the store but a police report wasn't taken.

No arrests have been made.
