UPTOWN — The 11th Annual Ride for AIDS Chicago fundraiser raised more than $843,000, according to event organizer the Test Positive Aware Network (TPAN).

TPAN, a nonprofit organization at 5050 N. Broadway, puts on the event every year to raise money for the network and partnering agencies that provide testing, medical resources and counseling for people with HIV/AIDS.

Hundreds of cyclists took part in the two-day, 190-mile trek from Evanston to Wisconsin on Saturday and Sunday with the goal of raising $1 million for organizations that serve people living with HIV/AIDS.

While organizers fell short of their goal, the $843,000 raised still beat last year's total by about $74,000, and the previous year's total by about $210,000.

TPAN said before the event that Ride for AIDS Chicago had raised almost $2.5 million in its first decade.
