CHICAGO — TGIF. Here are some things to do that will make your Friday better. Looking for stuff to do Saturday and Sunday? Check out our handy festival guide here.

1. Pretend You're Seeing your Fave Band: No Doubt! Weezer! Sublime! The Red Hot Chili Peppers! Well, sort of. Taste of River North is serving up food from some of the city's most popular spots — and a whole lot of cover bands. Drink enough Goose Island beer and you won't notice the difference. For more info on the rest of the fest, click here. $5 suggested donation. The fest kicks off Friday at 5 p.m. at Kingsbury and Erie streets.

2. Go, Mongo! The Chicago Latin Jazz Festival kicks off Friday in Humboldt Park. You'll hear Cuban dance music, salsa, Central and South American jazz and more. For full fest details, click here. Free. Starts at 6 p.m. at the Humboldt Park Boathouse, 1301 N. Sacramento Ave.

3. Get Inspired: Head to Fosco Park on the Near West Side tonight to watch "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom." Bring the tissues and be ready to take on the world when it's all over. Free. Movie starts at 8:30 p.m. at Fosco Park, 1312 S. Racine Ave.

4. Have a Drink on a Hip New Patio: Logan Square's East Room is quickly becoming the worst-kept secret in Chicago. They have a fabulous patio, stellar dance parties and a lengthy drink list. Get in while you still can. Patio open from 3 p.m.-12 a.m. on Fridays. 2828 Medill Ave.

5. Eat a Frozen Custard Cone: You ate salads for lunch at work all week. Time to treat yourself! Scooter's Frozen Custard has a walk-up window so you don't even need to escape the sun to order. They also give free little cones to dogs that "order" at the window. Isn't that the most adorable thing you've ever heard? Prices vary. Open from 2-10 p.m. on Fridays at 1658 W. Belmont Ave.
