AUBURN GRESHAM — The Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corp. is offering free computer and social media classes to seniors age 60 and over this month.

The next basic computer class is from 3-5 p.m. Monday in the Community Room at Urban Partnership Bank, 7801 S. State St. Social media classes are Thursday and July 28 at the same time and location. To RSVP, call at 773-483-3696.

The classes come at a time when Myrtle Sampson said she wanted to learn how to use a computer so she can communicate with her three teenage grandchildren in Atlanta through email, Facebook and Twitter.

"I call and talk to my 'babies' every weekend, but once I learn how to use a computer I will be able to email them. I recently learned how to send text messages and now I am ready for the 'big time' by using a computer," said Sampson, a 71-year-old Auburn Gresham resident. "I already told my son I want a laptop computer for Christmas. Look out Facebook, here I come."
