CHICAGO — It's been an unseasonably chilly couple days, but we know better than to call 65 degrees "cold." Throw on a cardigan and go outside. You'll be dreaming of 65 in December.
1. Play Bingo And Eat Free Hot Dogs: Veggie Bingo takes over the Hideout Wednesday night. There are free hot dogs from Hot Doug's and prizes from local food producers and farmers. Winner takes home a bounty! The bingo callers will be inside on stage, but you can take your card, hot dog and beer outside and play on the patio, where speakers are set up. Bingo cards are $4 each, 3 for $10. 5:30 to 8 p.m. at The Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave.
2. Hula Hoop in the Park: Apparently, hula hooping is not just for kids. "Hoopnotica Certified Instructor" Carly Hoops will be in Wicker Park Wednesday night showing how you can improve your core strength while workin' that hoop and laughing at yourself and others. Free. 6:30 p.m. at the corner of Damen Avenue and Schiller Street.
3. See A Really Awesome "Kids" Movie: You don't need to have a munchkin to enjoy the Muppets. "The Muppet Movie" plays for free at Gompers Park tonight. Try to be in a bad mood after watching it — impossible! Free. 8:30 p.m. at 4222 W. Foster Ave.
4. Get Jazzy at the Shedd: Catch Lake Effect and the William Boris Trio at the Shedd Aquarium's "Jazzin' at the Shedd" event. Aside from the music, there will be fireworks and food and drink for sale. You can also see what the animals are doing later than usual. Tickets are $18. 5 to 10 p.m. at the Shedd Aquarium, 1200 S. Lake Shore Drive.
5. Drink a Margarita: Cooler than usual? It's the perfect time to snag a drink on the Big Star patio. The wait probably won't be as long and the mezcal in the Big Star margarita will have you ditching the cardigan in no time. They also bring out heat lamps when it gets too chilly. Big Star, 1531 N.
