HYDE PARK — Ald. Natashia Holmes (7th) will host a town hall meeting on Tuesday with community groups asking for a community benefits agreement with the developers of Lakeside on the former U.S. Steel site in South Chicago.

“Lakeside has the capability to restore the region’s economic stability as the largest local source of jobs, with affordable housing and increased revenue,” said Amalia NietoGomez, executive director of the Alliance of the SouthEast organization. “Our community needs a community benefits agreement that outlines the commitments from the developer to our community.”

The Alliance of the SouthEast and other organizations will present a list of improvements they would like to see in south lakefront communities as the 600-acre Lakeside development begins.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel School, 8231 S. South Shore Drive.
