'The Schlitz Bouts': Turn-of-the-Century Boxing and Beer Thursday

LOGAN SQUARE — Schlitz Brewing Co. will bring a night of turn-of-the–century boxing and entertainment to Logan Square as part of The Schlitz Bouts Thursday.

In partnership with Chicago Boxing Club and The Inconvenience, The Schlitz Bouts will feature a "fully immersive event" with amateur fighters from the Chicago Boxing Club vying for glory as guests are invited to sip Schlitz at the Logan Auditorium, 2539 N. Kedzie Blvd., from 7-11 p.m.

The homage to the beginnings of Modern America and boxing’s golden age will provide a night of sanctioned bouts featuring period-specific entertainment provided by The Inconvenience, including The Fly Honey burlesque dancers, comedians, musical acts and more.

"Schlitz has a storied connection to Chicago that spans over a century," said John Genest, brand manager for Schlitz Brewing. "The Schlitz Bouts creates a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the brand’s history with Chicago in an truly engaging manner. It’s also a way for us to work with some of the up-and-coming and established brands that are creating the next generation of lasting American goods in Chicago."

Guests are encouraged to dress the part and will be able to find attire inspiration from a Schlitz Bouts Style Book, curated in partnership with renowned local Chicago boutiques, Apartment Number 9 and Edith Hart, featuring a variety of modern updates on 1920s style.

Chicagoans can also be on the lookout for specially-made menswear pieces, designed in partnership with Schlitz, including period-inspired shoes from Oak Street Bootmakers and a signature watch from Astor + Banks.

Tickets to The Schlitz Bouts are $15 and can be bought online or at the door, if available.
