Man Pulled from Lake Thursday Dies

CHICAGO — A man pulled from Lake Michigan Thursday night has died, officials said.

Witnesses called police to the lake near the 5500 block of North Lake Shore Drive after hearing cries for help about 11:15 p.m., said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

The man, identified as Isreal M. Espinoza, of Berwyn, was rescued by the Fire Department and taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital is in critical condition. He was pronounced dead there at 7 a.m. Friday, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

He died of drowning, an autopsy determined.
